Fall 2011

Hannah:

Hannah, full of beauty and brains, is being "annoyed" by the boys on the bus and bursting with knowledge as she begins kindergarten and Grandma Learning Academy. 

She loves school! She loves grandma! She loves Ms. Hyme. 

Hannah is a happy five year old that responds to the question, "Hannah, how was your day?" with..."Mom, it was AWESOME!" 

        FYI:

        Olentangy schools has an odd kindergarten program where students attend school full days, but only every other day. This is probably a nightmare for some families. However, we are blessed with Gma Gerry, who is able to spend Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday with Hannah. Yes, in school Hannah practices reading, writing, math and more, but at Grandma Learning Academy Hannah learns important skills such as: 

• How to make and bake banana bread. 
• How to ride the city bus without fear.
• How to fold laundry.
• How to journal her daily events. 
• How to make great grandmas smile. 
• How to find cute items to buy in magazines.
• How to recycle.
• How to treasure library books. 
• How to ...   (Everyday is a new adventure)

We have been very impressed with Hannah's transition into a new home, new neighborhood, new school, new friendships and more. Transitions have always been somewhat difficult for Hannah with the element of change and the unknown, but she has thrived in her new settings and situations. She rides the bus like a "big kid" and thinks the world of her bus driver. Which in turn means that Jon and I think the world of her bus driver. 

Other quick info:

• She loves the smurfs.
• She loves to dance - Over the summer she was enrolled in a ballet/tap combo class.
• She is officially considered a night owl (she'll read in bed until she falls asleep).
• She will be doing a "Little Lady Hoopers" clinic starting in December. Once again, I'm so impressed that she wanted to try something new again! 
• In school, she loves going to specials: music, art, gym and library. 
• She is a bundle of positive energy and is the greatest role model for her younger brother, Harper.

Harper:

This little monkey shocks us all with his use of language! He amazes everyone around him with his thoughts and phrases. Let's just say that laughter and smiles surround this sweet, little boy everyday.  

            Some of the most recent silly statements, comments or phrases from Harp:

• Sit down and eat your ketchup! 
• Are those trees talking? The trees in the Wizard of Oz talk. 
• No, stop that Summer. Those are mine!
• I work on my letters and numbers. I do my ABCs. 
• It's wake up time. I go downstairs and eat breakfast instead. 
• Shhh. I'm being sneaky. Shh.
• Can we get a cornucopia?

            Some of Harper's favorites:

• All types of engines, cars or trucks!
• His sister, Hannah.
• His grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles.
• Fruit snacks, yogurt, applesauce, bars, waffles, apple juice. 
• Puzzles and books
• Mario Cart Wii
• Shopping
• School                                                                                                                                        Harper started this school year at Polaris Prep Academy. It was a great, little school with sweet teachers. However, they were on a very conjested corner and traffic was pretty nasty in the morning. So, we made the decision to switch him back to Dublin Learning Academy, which he is loving. He has a fabulous teacher, Ms. Missy! I am a happy parent when I drop him off in the morning because I know that he is loved, building friendships and learning. 

* We recently found out Harper is allergic to peanuts and other nuts, dust, molds, outdoor trees like, 

     birch and more. He has also been diagnosed with asthma. He has an inhaler and a nebulizer, but we 

     have only really had to use it during respiratory colds. 


Halloween: Harp was a tiger and Hannah was a rockin' blue, Smurfette.
